While all the pups are unique in their own way, this cute little fella’s eye catching looking makes everyone to turn their heads around. Meet Enzo, a very special Golden Retriever!
As far as we know, golden retrievers look pretty much the same and as their name indicates, this breed posses a golden coat. Well, in this little one’s case something must had happened since he got the cutest black marking on his shiny coat.
Enzo was born with a large black spot from the eye to the nose, covering pretty much all of his left side of the face. The cute marking is due to a very rare condition called pigmented somatic cell mutation.
“Golden retrievers are born with a base black coat, but a ‘modifier gene’ turns them golden,” Ella Castro, the pup’s mom, told The Dodo. “Almost every dog has this modifier. Enzo has a little stumble in his DNA that erased it on that one part of his face.”
This extremely rare condition is very uncommon and that makes Enzo even more special. However, he doesn’t seems to be aware of it since he acts just like any other doggie. He plays and runs and loves to meet new people.
On the other hand strangers are extremely curios about Enzo’s unique looking and as his mom says, they don’t even know he’s actually a golden retriever.

“Most people don’t know he’s a golden,” the woman said. “They often ask his breed and say they assumed he was a mutt, because goldens are solid colored. Anyway, he’s a very friendly dog.”
Even different, just like any other dog out there Enzo is absolutely adorable in every sense of the world. And his family loves him from the bottom of their hearts. More, the sweet pup is a sensation on Instagram too, where he describes himself as being a “pro napper, sock thiever, kiss giver and a fuzzy snuggle.”
