Polar bear cub hitches a ride on its mother during an Arctic swim

There’s no thing a mom would ever refuse to her baby and as it seems not just human babies love to be spoiled, but animals too. An overprotective polar bear mom is definitely spoiling her little one’s rotten, even if that means carrying him on her back through the icy waters of the Artic Ocean.

It is unclear if the cub just got to tired to swim by himself or his mom is too protective, but one thing is for sure – this little guy has his very own taxi. The adorable moment was caught on camera by Kevin Schafer on the islands of Svalbard, Norway.

The Seattle-based wildlife photographer was on a cruise when witnessed the adorable family scene. The pair was initially spotted on a ice floe, but then the mother bear decided to head to the land so she took a dive into the water. The cute little cub followed her, but surprisingly he just jumped on her back and stayed there the whole journey to the mainland.

“In 25 years of observing polar bears, this was easily the most moving thing I have ever seen,” the 60-year-old photographer said. “It was a moment of pure tenderness – unusual for such a world-class predator. mall cubs do not have the insulation needed to spend a lot of time in the icy waters. The young bear was probably trying to keep warm.”

Once back on the land, the polar bear and her cub started to explore the island in searching for some food!
