Kind man goes to shelters and adopts all the animals no one else wants

We often hear about stories of animals being put down as they failed to get adopted. And sadly, only a few people actually do something more about it, something that can actually make a difference!

Steve Greig is one of those people. He has dedicated his entire life to adopt animals who can’t find forever homes. From senior dogs to animals with health issues, Steve is determined to give them all a second chance. And don’t think he only adopts dogs and cats. Nope, Steve has also adopted some ducks, pigeons and even a lucky pig.

In fact, his property in Denver, Colorado is a home for a dozen of dogs, a pig, two ducks, some cats, a pigeon, a rabbit and a couple of chickens. And counting. Ever since he remembers, Greig said he loved animals and he always tried to protect and take care of those in need of help.

“I grew up with a lot of pets,” the kindhearted man told The Dodo. “Both my parents were animal lovers and they pretty much always let me have whatever I wanted as long as I could take care of it.”

However, the moment when Steve made that his lifetime mission was when his beloved dog passed away. “A month or two went by and I still felt so horrible about it,” Steve said. “I decided that the only way I would feel better was if something good happens. So [I adopted] a 12-year-old Chihuahua.” And that’s how all started.

With a bunch of dogs and a pig living in my house, and frequent visits from a rabbit, a chicken and a turkey, keeping it clean can be a challenge. I don’t often promote products here but everyone always asks how I keep my house so clean and the Dyson V11 Torque Drive cord-free vacuum is something I really love and I really use. Ok, my housekeeper uses it most of the time…..😁 but I use it as well to keep the high volume areas in check so she doesn’t quit on me. I guess you could say no Dyson, no Housekeeper, no Wolfgang2242. I ended up buying an extra one for upstairs and then I even bought one for my friend in Ohio so she could see how wonderful they are. Honestly, the Dyson cordless is the best purchase I’ve made in a long time. True story. #dysonpets #ad

Now, Steve has a pretty special daily routine. “A normal day for me is getting up at 5 a.m. in the morning and making breakfast for all of them, which, you know, there’s 10 [dogs] and most of them have different diets,” he said.

It’s incredible to see a man doing so much for these poor little souls. He says he had a special connection with each and everyone of the animals he adopts. “You kind of know what you want out of life once you become a certain age,” he said. “These older dogs know who they are, and it’s easy to develop a relationship with a person or pet who knows who they are. It’s just fulfilling knowing that these adorable animals are happy and loved and well-taken care of. It makes my days worthwhile.”
