Heartwarming footage shows mama leopard teaching cubs how to cross the road

A traffic jam is certainly not the best way to start the day, but when it happens on a road through Africa’s wildest reserves, you’d definitely want to be caught in it! Kruger National Park in South Africa is one of the latest places on the African continent, where wild animals are still roaming freely. That’s a fine opportunity for both locals and tourists who’re driving through the natural reserve’s roads to see wild animals while in their natural habitat. From majestic lions to elephants, rhinos or leopards, they all can be a great sight for the drivers.

Recently, Thinus Delport was driving with his daughter when a lovely scene unfolded in front of their eyes. The 64-year-old spotted a traffic jam in front of them, but he had the surprise of his life when realized an adorable leopard family is responsible for it.

“We hit a traffic jam where a few cars were stationary,” Delport told Latest Sightings. “It seemed like visitors were looking at a pride of lions. My daughter noticed that in the thicket behind our vehicle, there was a mother leopard trying to move her cubs!”

A mama leopard and her two tiny cubs were about to cross the road, when the little ones were probably getting scared and refused to fallow their mom. But as soon as all the vehicles stopped, the majestic female tried to convince her offsprings to cross. Finally the two cubs put all their trust in their mom and decided to go the other side of the bushes. Even if for one of them, the road crossing proved to be a little bit exhausting. Fortunately, its mom was there to help him out.

The rare sight was the perfect opportunity for Delport’s daughters to spot the elusive wild cats for the very first time. “Early morning, my daughters and I left the camp looking for leopards,” he said. “They were convinced that there are no leopards in the Kruger, as neither of them had ever seen one. As we drove, I jokingly convinced them to start singing in the car, to draw the leopards out, and so they did – and to my surprise – it actually worked!”
