Years of violence through which he passed the Democratic Republic of Congo have left their mark on rare species of fauna, such as eastern gorilla or Gorilla beringei graueri, primate species currently in critical danger of extinction. The Gorilla in the eastern plains is the largest of the four existing subspecies of gorilla. The average height at the maturity of these animals is 1.70 meters, but males can exceed 1.85 meters and weigh over 200 kilograms.
