A swearing-in ceremony is certainly a big thing for anyone and a moment like that requires a lot of responsibility and attention, as well. However, things didn’t go as planned for a sweet police puppy during his big day!
You see, these pups need to meet some very high demands, to become K9 dogs. Since they’re about to be indispensable beings meant to help people with medical and developmental issues or to play major roles in police investigations, they definitely requires a set of special skills.
However, you can never be too sure with a puppy. And Bristol Police Department in Rhode Island have learned the hard way just how unpredictable pups can be. They were about to hire a new therapy dog called Brody, but the his swearing-in ceremony didn’t go as planned at all. The cute little puppy seemed to forget about the attitude an event like this requires, and he just slept the entire time. To top it off, the sumptuous event was broadcast live on Facebook.
But even his first impression wasn’t as expected, the Chief Kevin Lynch still remains optimistic and excited about Brody’s future contribution. “I knew we had a winning formula for the town,” he said. “This is a very good example of making a difference. He’s going to be a superstar for the town of Bristol. You can guarantee it.” Thankfully, the cute Brody woke up just in time!
Apparently Brody’s love for sleeping isn’t something new. “He plays really hard and he sleeps really hard,” his handler Officer Keith Medeiros told The Dodo. “When he’s not playing, he’s sleeping, which is kind of tough because he sleeps a lot. We put him down on the desk and he was just so comfortable that he lay down and fell asleep.”
