Grumpy Cat, the legendary internet sensation passed away. The information was confirmed by its owner on Twitter. Grumpy whose real name was Tardar Sauce, was 7 year-old. The cat became famous after photos of her facial expressions went viral back in 2012.
According to her owner, Tabitha Bundesen, the famous cat passes away because of complications from a recent urinary tract infection, BBC reports.

“We are unimaginably heartbroken to announce the loss of our beloved Grumpy Cat. Despite care from top professionals, as well as from her very loving family, Grumpy encountered complications from a recent urinary tract infection.
“Besides being our baby and a cherished member of the family, Grumpy Cat has helped millions of people smile all around the world – even when times were tough. Her spirit will continue to live on through her fans everywhere,” the statement says.
The Arizona based cat who “helped millions of people smile,” gained its reputation on Instagram where more then two million people followed her.

After a photo of her went viral on reddit, Grumpy cat became a worldwide sensation. In 2015, Madame Tussauds in San Francisco even unveiled a wax-sculpture of her. Her unique facial expression was caused by feline dwarfism.
