Family walks into shelter and adopts oldest dog there

Shelters from all over the country and around the world are full of loving and active senior dogs looking for a forever home and a kind family. And while most of the people who go at animal shelters want to adopt a puppy, there are actually a lot of benefits of adopting a senior dog.

For starters, older dogs who end up at shelters need a home just as badly as younger dogs do, so by adopting a senior dog, you may actually be saving that canine’s life. Most shelters are extremely overcrowded and as sad as it may be to think about it, the truth is that older dogs are among the first to be euthanized if they don’t get adopted fast enough.
Also, a great benefit of getting an older dog is that they are already house trained and know a wide array of commands, which means you’ll save a lot of time and energy that you would otherwise have to direct towards training a puppy.
The owners in the video below understand all the benefits of getting an older dog and wanted to give a dog no one else wanted a chance at a happy life.
That is how they ended up adopting an 11-year-old dog to give her the best life possible. But soon after adopting her, the owners found out the dog had advanced cancer and not much longer to live. So they started working on a bucket list meant to make the end of her life the best part of her life.
