When parents asked Emmy what she wants for Christmas, her answer was quite surprising for them. As most of the youngsters at that age wish all sorts of gifts, this 11-year-old girl wanted nothing the same. She told her parents she wants to create a charity to help homeless animals.
And when your kid asks you something like this, there is only one answer. And so Emmy’s parents did. They decided to help and support her. More than that, the girl’s tireless work to help animals find forever homes led her to get the surprise of her life. Emmy thought she had just found one dog a home, but instead she was greeted by a crowd of people with some great news.
Emmy’s Hope is a charity that helps rescued dogs find forever homes and to give them a second chance to live. Helped by her family, Emmy is visiting animal shelters and providing them with their wish list of supplies to help the needy creatures.
“The goal is not to rescue dogs but save their lives. My hope is that kids just like me will find the importance of rescuing and adopting,” said Emmy. “I know I can’t help them all but for the ones I do help and save, it matters.”
Beside she tries to provide supplies for those animals, Emmy spends as much time as she can to offer them her love and compassion.
One day she fell in love with Fox, a senior dog whose time at the shelter was running out. So Emmy tried to everything in her power to find him a forever home. So when she found out Fox is being adopted, she cannot hold back the tears. But, that’s not the only good news she received that day.
When she stepped out of the shelter she was greeted by a crowd of people and told by rescue staff that “Fox isn’t the only dog that’s being adopted today. We’re hoping to adopt all the dogs here in your honor.”
Emmy is a true animal hero and an inspiration to all of us!
