Kat Kenny and her husband-to-be adopted Freya five years ago, and as frequently happens it was love at first sight. Since then, the dog was part of the family and both Kat and her boyfriend could not imagined their lives without their beloved furry child.
So it goes without saying that when they planned their wedding Freya would be also there. The gentle dog took the flower girl’s role and she looked happier than ever. Always a very friendly dog, Freya got along very well with all the guests and her reward was lots of hugs and cuddles.
“She was an angel,” her mom told THE DODO. “She’d stayed inside with me while my party, then we let her out right before we came out. She made her way down the aisle to say hello to my husband, before going up and down every row of guests to ensure they all knew she was the star of the show.”
But such a big event always comes with lots of emotions and apparently for Freya was pretty hard to get over them. The ceremony begun and everything looked perfect, when nature called for the poor dog. And what a better place to do her things than behind the arbor. Of course Freya wanted her little intimate moment to go unnoticed, but since every single guest at the wedding was starring at the arbor and she was right behind it, that seemed impossible.
Well, things went well at first as only a few spotted Freya and these tried to ignore her, but show started when Kat’s mom noticed her. Then every single person at the wedding started to laugh.
“Most of the guests had already noticed but had the tact to not say anything, but of course my mum called out, ‘OH NO, Freya!,” Kat recalls. “We had asked our celebrant that our ceremony be full of laughter, and nothing makes everyone laugh quite like a giant dog perched behind the arbor doing her businesses.”
As soon as she finished, Freya went back to her place like nothing happened. But everyone decided to remind her she actually stole the show, so they started to applaud her. “She came BOUNDING back to us with the most excited expression, and came straight back to her crowd of adoring fans,” her mom said.
Freya’s way ‘to ruin’ her parent’s wedding definitely put a smile on every face at the party, but the moment will probably remain the most hilarious memory they have from this very special day. “It was the talk of the evening, much to our delight,” Kat said. “We are a couple who love to make memories, particularly with our furry children, and we couldn’t have imagined something so hilarious as this!”
