It’s hard to live up to a name like Hero, but the dog in the video below proved he well-deserves his name. The Labrador is a trained diabetic alert dog and has been taken care of a little girl named Sadie since he was just a puppy. Sadie was born with Down syndrome and was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was three-months old. Hero is able to detect changes to Sadie’s blood sugar levels using his sense of smell. If he senses any changes, he immediately alerts the girl’s parents. Hero can detect these changes from miles away, which is what saved Sadie’s life. Watch this:
