While sighting a black panther in the wild may sounds like an experience many can only dream for, this wildlife photographer is specialized in close encounters with the elusive cats. Over the last four years, wildlife photographer Shaaz Jung has closely followed the steps of this majestic creature thorough the Indian jungles and captured on camera some spectacular sights of it.

“Ever since our eyes first met, my passion became an obsession and it was my ultimate goal to shed more light on the master of darkness,” the photographer said. “Today I am extremely fortunate to be making a film on him for Nat Geo WILD as well as writing an extensive research paper.”
Jung spent the last 3-4 years in the forests of Kabini hunting this elusive wild cat with nothing but his camera. He admits the unique experience he had required a lot of patience as leopards are known as highly secretive creatures. However, Jung says it worth every moment of it.

“I spent two and a half years in the Kabini Forest,” he told Bored Panda. “This black panther is a leopard with an abundance of melanin. Unlike other cats in the Kabini Forest, there is only one black panther. This of course makes him far more difficult to photograph.”
